Scartho Stakeholder
Individuals, organisations and businesses interested in helping shape Scartho Gateway Academy are invited to attend a stakeholder event.
The drop in will take place at Waltham Toll Bar Academy on Tuesday, 15 October, 2024 any time between 5pm and 7pm.
The new primary will open on Matthew Telford Park, behind the superstore, next September.
Building is well underway and parents can apply to send children to the school when North East Lincolnshire Council opens its admissions process on 7 November.
Executive Principal Andrew Clark is keen to engage with the wider community.
"We held two very successful evenings at St Giles’ Church, Scartho, to make parents aware of the opportunity to apply to the new school," he said.
"These were well attended and generated lots of positivity.
"Our next step is to further engage with the local community in Scartho.
"Our aim is to ensure that the school is very much at the heart of the community it serves.
"To do this well, it is vital that we have productive and positive relationships with members of the locality."
The informal event at Waltham Toll Bar will be hosted by representatives from Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust, which will run Scartho Gateway Academy. There will also be colleagues from North East Lincolnshire Council.
"We hope this will give an opportunity to find out more about the school, have a look at some images and plans, discuss our vision, and ask questions about aspects such as curriculum and enrichment," said Mr Clark.
"Importantly, we would also like to take this opportunity to see how the new school can work alongside the community, now and in the future.
"Our current schools have excellent links with the local communities and have regular enrichment through visits, visitors, workshops and information talks.
"We would also like to speak to anybody who might be interested in being part of the local governing body for the new school, thereby playing a key role in the development and success of the new school over the coming years.
"Ultimately, by the end of the evening, our vision is to seek a group of volunteers who can meet, perhaps every couple of months between now and opening in September 2025.
"They would support us in our journey, ensuring that we grow as a community, creating a fantastic starting point for our first group of young children.
"In addition, we hope to have established some links with local partners to ensure our children will have exciting experiences and opportunities to flourish, alongside our exciting curriculum and personal development programme."
