Subject Leader for Geography – Alivia Green
My name is Alivia Green, and I am the Geography Subject Leader. This is my first year leading Geography, and I am incredibly excited to support and inspire our children as they develop their geographical knowledge and understanding.
I have a particular interest in many areas of Geography, including rivers, continents, and, most importantly, our local area. Learning about the world around us helps children gain a deeper understanding of where they live and how their local environment connects to the wider world.
My vision reflects the core purpose of the National Curriculum. I want our children to develop secure knowledge of significant places around the world, understand key geographical concepts, and confidently communicate their learning in a variety of ways. This includes using maps, interpreting numerical and quantitative information, and writing in depth about geographical topics.
My aim is to foster a lifelong love of learning about our world through engaging and challenging experiences. I want children to be curious, ask questions, and have opportunities to carry out their own research as they explore a wide range of geographical themes and concepts.
Most importantly, I want children to understand why Geography matters. It helps us make sense of our world, our communities, and the environments in which we live. Above all, I want every child to enjoy their Geography lessons and develop a passion for the subject that lasts beyond the classroom.
