Subject Leader for Physical Education – Adam Drury

Hello, my name is Adam Drury, and I am the subject leader for Physical Education. I have been the lead for one year now and am continuing to lead the subject this academic year. I have a personal interest in this subject having studied a degree in sport and growing up with a sporting background.

I have a strong interest in physical education and believe that sport and physical activity play an important role in children’s health, wellbeing and development. I enjoy creating positive opportunities for children to be active, develop new skills and build confidence through sport. I am passionate about making PE enjoyable and inclusive for all pupils, while encouraging teamwork, resilience and a positive attitude towards physical activity.

My vision for Physical Education at Scartho Gateway Academy, is to provide every child with the opportunity to enjoy being active, develop their physical skills and build confidence. I want PE to be inclusive, engaging and accessible to all children, while developing important values such as teamwork, resilience, respect and determination. I aim to create a positive attitude towards physical activity that children can carry with them throughout their lives.

I want children to understand that PE is important for their physical health, mental wellbeing and overall development, whilst enjoying fun and engaging lessons. I want them to recognise the benefits of being active while developing confidence, teamwork, resilience and healthy habits that they can carry with them throughout their lives.
