Bright Futures Friday
At Scartho Gateway Academy, we are committed to helping pupils develop the skills, confidence, and resilience they need for life beyond the classroom. One of the ways we do this is through Bright Futures Friday.
A Trauma-Informed Approach to Learning
As a Trauma-Informed School, we work closely with TISUK to create opportunities that support every child's well-being and personal growth.
Bright Futures Friday is inspired by the principles of Landscapes of the Mind.
Through pupil voice, we discover how children feel about themselves and ask what opportunities they would like to explore.
Each half term, staff review pupils' suggestions and design activities that help them develop new skills, explore hobbies, and engage with the wider community.
Pupils are then given time off the usual timetable to take part in activities alongside children with similar interests.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Bright Futures Friday allows pupils to discover new passions, develop life skills, and grow as confident, resilient learners.
Whether they are trying a new hobby, exploring a cultural experience, or working with members of the community, pupils gain practical skills and personal growth that extend beyond the classroom walls.
Celebrating Learning
At the end of each half term, pupils showcase their achievements and new skills in a Bright Futures Exhibition, which is open for parents to visit.
These exhibitions celebrate the creativity, growth, and confidence pupils gain from exploring their interests and trying new experiences.
