How The Grinch Stole Christmas!
This festive season, Scartho Gateway Academy celebrated its very first Christmas with two joyful and memorable performances from our Key Stage 2 pupils.

The children brought the classic tale of ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ to life, delighting family and friends who came along to watch and support.
Dressed in festive jumpers, Christmas hats and brilliant Grinch costumes, the pupils retold the much-loved Dr. Seuss story with confidence and enthusiasm. The production featured a wide range of roles, including narrators, the cheerful Whos of Whoville, and of course, the Grinch himself – impressively played by two pupils who shared the role.
The show was packed with singing, acting and festive spirit. Songs included favourites such as ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch’ and ‘Where Are You Christmas?’ which were performed beautifully by the children. The audience was thoroughly entertained as the story unfolded, showcasing the pupils’ hard work, teamwork and growing confidence on stage.
The performance ended on a high note with a fun and energetic snowball fight between the cast and their audience, creating lots of laughter and festive cheer. To finish the celebration, everyone was invited to join in singing ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’, bringing pupils, staff and families together in a wonderful moment of shared celebration.
This year’s Christmas shows were particularly special as they marked the first Christmas celebrations since Scartho Gateway Academy opened in September 2025.
Principal Melanie Portlock praised pupils and staff, saying: “Our very first Christmas performances have been truly magical. The children should be incredibly proud of themselves for their enthusiasm, talent and teamwork. It has been wonderful to welcome families into our school and celebrate the festive season together as a new school community.”
A huge well done to all of our Key Stage 2 pupils and staff for making Scartho Gateway Academy’s first Christmas one to remember.
