Key Stage 1 delights with A Wriggly Nativity!
Scartho Gateway Academy’s youngest pupils brought the Nativity story to life in a lively and interactive performance of A Wriggly Nativity by Peter Fardell.

Designed for young children, the musical uses catchy songs, actions, and movement to engage every child, making it the perfect way to tell the Christmas story.
The performance featured all the classic Nativity characters, including Mary, Joseph, and the Donkey, alongside angels, innkeepers, stars, shepherds, sheep, the three kings, camels, and of course, the animals in the stable where baby Jesus was born.
With songs like Bumping Up and Down On A Camel, Donkey Plodding, and Rockabye Jesus, the children were able to participate fully and showcase their confidence in both singing and acting.
Parents and staff were treated to a delightful, energetic performance as the pupils demonstrated their enthusiasm, talent, and growing stage presence. The combination of music, movement, and storytelling made the Nativity story accessible, fun, and memorable for all involved.
This year’s Christmas shows were especially significant as they marked the first Christmas season at Scartho Gateway Academy since the school opened its doors in September 2025.
Principal Melanie Portlock commented: "Our Key Stage 1 pupils were absolutely fantastic in their first Christmas performance at Scartho Gateway Academy. Their energy, confidence, and joy in performing was wonderful to see, and it really brought the Nativity story to life for everyone in the audience."
A huge congratulations to all of our Key Stage 1 pupils and staff for making A Wriggly Nativity such an engaging and memorable celebration of Christmas.
