Play equipment

High quality playground equipment created to encourage safe development will be installed at our new primary school.

Designs have been revealed that will benefit children in Early Years and those attending the Resource Specialist Provisions (RSPs) at Scartho Gateway Academy.

The significant investment will make a huge difference said Principal Mel Portlock.

“The equipment is high quality, designed to be used in all weathers,” she said.

“Outdoor learning is central to our curriculum and these areas will be used throughout the day, not just at playtimes.

“We wanted our outdoor areas to be as good as our indoor environment. These exciting designs will do just that.”

In Early Years, the playgrounds will include a climbing frame, a track for scooters and bikes, a stage, mud kitchen, covered sandpit and quiet area for reading.

The RSP areas will have larger climbing frames, occupational therapy blocks, sensory gardens, quiet places and tracks for equipment the children can use.

The playgrounds will be built by Pentagon Play.

The school, on Scartho Top next to Aldi, will be run by Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust.

It is being built by North East Lincolnshire Council through regeneration partner EQUANS and contractor Hobson and Porter and will open in September, as scheduled.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, Portfolio Holder for Children's Services and Education at the council said: “We are thrilled to see the significant investment in high-quality playground equipment for the two new primary schools set to open later this year.

“These exciting designs will greatly enhance outdoor learning and development, ensuring our children have the best possible resources for a bright future.”
